Dr. Kimberly I. Fielding was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Her travel adventures in adulthood have taken her to 48 continental states, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. She has also lived in a dozen states! These experiences have helped develop her admiration for diverse traditions, perspectives and challenges people face across the nation.
Professionally and personally speaking, Dr. Fielding enjoys bringing out the best in each person she encounters. Dr. Fielding has earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work. She also holds a doctorate in Education.
Dr. Fielding's overall philosophy and passion radiates systems thinking. She strives for, and focuses effort and energy towards systems change. For example, Dr. Fielding has played major roles in various program development projects such as; volunteer programs in Denver, a university social work distance education program which ended up receiving academic accreditation, and also the development of a non-profit agency that served children and their families involved with state custody issues. Her most recent efforts titled her as the Project Director for a four-year Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.
Dr. Fielding provides training and consulting supports within educational networks. She has had success in helping cultivate and guide systems into a culture of trauma-informed care. Dr. Fielding provides hands-on, evidence-based therapeutic services that are based on over six trauma specific modalities.
Her work with administrators, faculty and staff in education are among her favorite partnerships. She has assisted at the administrative level in policy structure and strategic planning. She also goes into the classroom for "coaching over the shoulder" with teachers and support staff. Grade and age ranges vary from Early Head Start to College age.
Dr. Fielding fully believes that this work is important to future generations. It is a source of joy, inspiration and satisfaction for her. She aims to be a resource to persons also interested in investing in our schools, which in turn invest in our children and their futures.
